FilmOffaly Short Film Award Now Closed


The FilmOffaly Short Film Award is now closed. Scripts are in and will be sent to the Script Readers this week.  We will be emailing everyone that has sent in a script tomorrow (Wednesday 27th March) with results. If you have entered a script and you don't get an email do get in touch with us at We will get back in touch with everyone by the end of April. Good luck to all that applied. Please do note that due to the volume of scripts that we receive we cannot offer individual feedback.

Irish Premiere of FilmOffaly/Filmbase Short Film Bursary winner 2016 Kubrick by Candlelight


Kubrick by Candlelight the 2016 FilmOffaly/Filmbase Short Film Bursary winner is to have their Irish premiere at OFFline Film Festival on Friday 13 October at 6pm... Directed by one of the world's top location managers David O'Reilly this film is a light hearted romantic comedy set in 1973 behind the scenes of Stanley Kubrick's film Barry Lyndon. 

Kubrick by Candlelight to be shot in December


Following months of location research and casting, the 2016 FilmOffaly & Filmbase Bursary award winner Kubrick by Candlelight  will be shot around Tullamore in early December.

FilmOffaly/Filmbase Award Winner 2016


The winner of the 2016 FilmOffaly FilmBase Award is a script called Kubrick by Candlelight written by David O’Reilly. The  short film is described as a romantic comedy set behind the scenes of the filming of Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon in 1970’s Ireland. Production on the short will begin later in the year. 

Offaly Featuring in RTE Series


John Creedon is on the road again in his VW van, this time exploring Ireland’s Ancient East. Some of Offaly’s most unique and historical sites are to feature in the programme Creedon's Epic East, including  the ancient monastic site Clonmacnoise on the River Shannon.  Watch Creedon’s Epic East Sunday evenings on RTE One.

OFFline Film Festival 2016 Dates Announced


This year’s OFFline Film Festival will take place from Wed 12– Sun 16 October. Taking place all over Birr town, OFFline is a film festival dedicated to making and screening quality films in the Irish midlands. Last years Short Film winner Ben Cleary went on to win an OSCAR for the film. SCREENINGS, WORKSHOPS, the 57hour CHALLENGE are all back as well as the Best Irish & International Shorts Competition. Caper to Premiere

Quinn & Grady - Film Shot in Offaly


This RTE Storyland short film currently being shown on RTE player was written by Offaly native Janet Hayes, directed by Ivan McMahon and Molly O'Driscoll of theTwo Hungry Fish Productions Company.


The the film is an irreverent comedy about a couple of mismatched cops and their efforts to solve the strange goings on in the village of Blackhill.
