In a moment of crisis, Mai opens the door to Anna, a pregnant young woman in labour. Anna has arrived at Mai’s doorstep badly hurt. Despite Anna’s attempts to downplay her injuries, Mai sees through the facade, connecting with her over shared experiences of loss.

Their moment of connection is interrupted by the unexpected arrival of Terry, Anna’s partner, setting off a chain of events that lead to a violent confrontation.
