A Day for Filmakers


On Friday 11 October FilmOffaly in association with OFFLine Film Festival held a day of networking and workshops for local and national filmmakers.

We recently had a local premiere at OFFline Film Festival 2019 for our 2017 & 2018 FilmOffaly Award Winners Brute and Aretha. They were launched on the opening night of the festival to a packed house

Scripts are in. We will be emailing everyone to acknowledge receipt on Wednesday 27th March. If you don't receive an email and you have sent in a script please do contact us on Scripts are then sent to the Script Readers for shortlisting. We will email results at the end of April 2019.

Please note that due to the volume of scripts that we receive we are unable to give individual feedback. Good luck to everyone.




Is your script ready to be a film?

This year our FilmOffaly Short Film Award 2019 has a winning bursary of €10,000.00

Our FilmOffaly Award Winner 2017 Brute (previously Red Rag) written and directed by Brian Folan and produced by TW Films is reaching the final stages of post productions. A short thriller that tells the story of a women and her son running from an abusive relationship only to get trapped in their car by a demented 1 tonne bull from hell. 

Aretha , an award winning script written by Dave Thomas was our FilmOffaly Short Film Award winner in 2018, production on the film is due to start this January/February. This is a heart warming film about a young girl with Down Syndrome proving that anything is possible... for updates check out their facebook site. 


Kubrick by Candlelight the 2016 FilmOffaly/Filmbase Short Film Bursary winner is to have their Irish premiere at OFFline Film Festival on Friday 13 October at 6pm... Directed by one of the world's top location managers David O'Reilly this film is a light hearted romantic comedy set in 1973 behind the scenes of Stanley Kubrick's film Barry Lyndon. 


David O’Reilly is the recipient of this the 2016 FilmOffaly Short Film Award with his script Kubrick by Candlelight. Described as a light-hearted romantic comedy the film is set behind the scenes during the production of Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon in Ireland in the mid 70s.


We managed to catch up with beloved actor Brendan Gleeson whilst he was performing throughout Ireland on a sold out music tour. During the interview he discusses his time in Offaly shooting short film 'Noreen' and fond memories of the project. Click below to see what he had to say.
